| Comments on Vegas by Les (webmaster @
lasvegasinsider.com): Las
Vegas!!! One of my favorite cities in the world; I've been going to this fabulous city
since I was 18 years old; OVER 30 years ago. Since I now
reside in Henderson, Nevada..... I can check things out first hand on the spur of the
moment.....I will try to also add value to the website with whatever I can verify that is
NOW going on in the city of Las Vegas!! I make the most of Las Vegas...that's why I love receiving Donald Currier's
"Las Vegas Insider" newsletter every month....keeps me up to date with
Vegas; what's new; what's the best deals; who's there; where to go; where NOT to
go....and any recent changes I should know about... And boy has this city ever been
changing and growing over the years.........
Couple of current favorites and gripes:
Best Clam Chowder soup (white) that we love is at Sunset Station's Oyster
Bar....soup is the best..however, my major gripe is the their price of wine (by the
glass)....$10.25 for a glass of white wine (Pinto Grigio by Santa margherita)...you got to
be kidding....you can buy a bottle of this wine at CostCo for $14 and some change.....watch out for the cost of wine at Las Vegas
restaurants!!
Donald and I both love steakhouses....one of my
favorite places was the Golden Steer on
Sahara...have been back to this old Las Vegas favorite and the
service did seem to be better...prices a little higher...and a little
remodeling was done....they do have excellent food...worth a try...
Best French Onion soup and maybe French restaurant is
at Paris!!! Restaurant is called:
Mon Ami Gabi - Parisian brasserie
We love sitting on the Las Vegas Blvd patio area and watching the water show across
the street at the Bellagio!!! Oh, don't forget the crepe desserts!!
Hmmmm.......
By the way at the Paris
website they have: "Live from the Paris Hotel on the fabulous Las
Vegas Strip, the Paris Las Vegas EarthCam
sits atop our balloon
marquee, giving you the most exciting view of all of Las Vegas!
".....<<<<< kind of cool to check out!!
Lots of the old places are gone...but are being
replaced with larger and even grander hotels/casinos/ with parks, lakes, waterfalls,
volcanoes, fountains, cities, amusements, and on and on.... Turn onto the Las Vegas
Boulevard; the "STRIP"; and you are overwhelmed with the neon sparkling lights;
and out of this world nightscape; it's almost alien... Now, there are the new
"hotels," places that look like a New York skyline; or a spaceship that's
topped off with a roller-coaster. Your senses will become overloaded with all these
stunning special effects....and entertainment. And now we have the super hotel
Bellagio...and their water shows out front. And now has come the Venetian, with it's
Grand Canals; and Paris with it's Eiffel Tower....wow!!!!
And don't forget the food!!!
Food of all kinds; in overwhelming quantities; from gourmet restaurants; wonderful
buffets, to those special "dollar" deals; "huge, cheap hot dogs, free
popcorn, a shrimp or crab cocktail for something around a buck, and imported beer for less
than that".
Let's go Casino hopping!!!
You'll have to get the newsletter and check out the tips on gambling; playing slot
machines, and the "table" games....love that video poker...oh and those new
Odyssey games; Wheel of Fortune, and some new ones that Donald has mentioned....lots of
fun...with music, sounds, touch screens, and a variety of games to pick from...
Caesars Palace
I have always liked staying at Caesars Palace, or just going there to check out what's
happening.....Cleopatra's Barge for dancing and drinks...the new Italian restaurant
"Terrazzo"...excellent food and service...
What Time Is It Anyway?
Good question; but who cares when you are having so much fun. It really doesn't matter
unless of course you're going to a show like the super terrific "Mystere" by Cirque du Soleil at the Treasure Island, or their
show called "O" at Bellagio. Also check out Treasure Island's pirate show,
too...which is Free....
